History

Since 1987, NCCA has been the only voice of the licensed, private childhood care and education community. Since that time, the association, its staff and leadership, have succeeded in establishing an influential presence for the private sector at national policy and legislative tables.

NCCA is a federation of state associations and as such draws outstanding leadership from across the United States. The five largest child care companies are national members of NCCA in addition to a number of regional companies.

Truly a representative organization, much of NCCA's focus is on insuring opportunities for the private sector in the provision of services including subsidized child care, Head Start, state pre-k programs and professional development opportunities.

In addition, NCCA has taken a leadership role in developing and offering professional development programs which are geared to the needs of the private sector. The association awards the National Administrator Credential (NAC) to successful directors, owners and managers. The NAC is the only national administrators' credential in the United States.
